Modifications
Left and right, upper and lower intercostals are cut at an angle to allow installation of the new plates.
The flanges running top to bottom in front and behind the engine mount beam must be cut off to allow the new plates to be installed.
Here John uses a cutoff wheel to remove the flanges
Forward and aft shear web doublers are drilled and removed.
A total of over 600 holes are drilled on each side of the aircraft.
The new plates are aligned, drilled and then installed.
Here the plates are ready for installation after drilling and measuring for each fastener (proper size and length)
Installing the plates, over 50 hi-loks are installed on each plate, many from inside the beam with one hand.
