TFE 731 Midspan Damage
Spectra Jet installed both engines at the finish of a 12 year inspection after return from MPI.
During engine run and adjustment, the right engine threw a Mid Span Fan Damper, causing damage to the fan blade and acoustic band.
After consultation with Garrett, the engine was removed and sent back to the MPI facility (not Garrett) and it was disassembled again for Inspection.
It was determined a flaw in the fan blade during its production was to blame.
Once the engine was repaired, it was sent back to Spectra Jet and reinstalled without further incident.
